Eighty-six years of collaborating with clients has taught RLF how to listen and effectively meet their needs. Comprised of highly qualified and experienced professionals, RLFs staff offer a multi-disciplinary team of architects, engineers, and interior designers working collaboratively with clients to define their goals, strengthen their mission, and create community and focused environments that meet the unique challenges of design.

March 16th, 2021

The Design Exchange Series events will be dedicated to highlighting a specific project led by a team of female architects from the Orlando area. During the event, a panel composed of the ladies that led the project discussed the design process and hardships they encountered while completing the project. The focus of the discussion was decided by the panel and WIA provided a platform for the presentation. The first event of the series was dedicated to the UF Institutes of Black Culture and Hispanic-Latino Culture by DLR Group.

Thursday, April 8th, 2021

Join the YAF Mentorship Social for a discussion about the ins and outs of running a practice in design and construction. This event will feature a panel discussion with representatives from Eleven18 Architecture, Make Design Studios, and Astoria44. Emerging Professionals and Students are encouraged to attend and ask questions about the Business of Architecture.

Age Friendly Environments and Work Spaces

In this session on Building an Equitable Firm, we explore the importance of creating inclusive workplaces and creating age-friendly environments in our work. This session will present examples of the impacts of bias and discrimination against older adults. 1 LU.
 
Participants will also:
• Examine individual and institutional bias and how this impacts participation of various aging populations.
• Gauge perceptions of age to understand how this affects behavior toward older colleagues.
• Hear from panelists on their experiences regarding the contributions of older workers.

Our Allied Committee hosted “Come Together and Collaborate” at Ember Orlando. It was a great success with close to 80 Architect and Allied members connecting and raising over $800 for the Orlando Foundation for Architecture (OFA).

September 9th, 2021

AIA Orlando’s annual meeting of the membership was held virtually on September 9th, 2021. The first half of the meeting covered the current status of the chapter with a look ahead to the remainder of the year. We held virtual elections for 2022 open board positions and voted on proposed changes to our Chapter Bylaws. The business meeting was immediately followed by a presentation by the winner of the AIA 2021 Firm Award, Moody Nolan.

Wardell Ross, Jr., is a registered architect in Texas & Ohio who received his architecture degree from Kent State University, which started his career path into architecture. Over the past 24 years, Wardell has worked in numerous architectural markets, including collegiate, K-12, civic, hospitality, and healthcare. Since rejoining Moody Nolan in 2013 he has been an instrumental part of both their Houston and Dallas offices. Wardell is the Director of Operations for the Houston office and serves as the office leader. In addition, he serves as a Project Executive & Senior Project Manager on several projects throughout Texas & other locations throughout the south and southwest regions of the United States.

The 2022 FAPAC Fundraiser Bowling Event was a tremendous success, bringing architectural firms and allied members together to benefit The Florida Architects Political Action Committee.
