At the end of this program the participants will gain an understanding of the complexities and complications arising in selecting paints and coatings within the context of the Green Building movement and the LEED Rating Systems in particular. There are now many LEED Rating Systems. In addition there are now an AIA adopted MPI system. These 2 systems are not synonymous and may frequently be in conflict so come learn to avoid some of these problems.

A well-designed green building improves indoor environmental quality, provides flexibility, will save significant resources in construction, operation, and maintenance. It also reduces waste and cuts first and life-cycle costs compared to conventional design.
The key to cost effective green design is the practice of “Integrated Design". The project team must think holistically, early in the design process. Through the underfloor distribution of power, voice & data cabling, and HVAC services, the Tate “Building Technology Platform” enables cost-effective integration of building components, including structure, lighting, furniture, and wall systems.
We will demonstrate that the introduction of underfloor distribution in coordination with accessible flooring will provide key environmental and economic benefits such as:
- Improved Indoor Air Quality
- Improved occupant thermal comfort
- Increased day-lighting opportunities
- Reduced natural resource consumption
- Increase energy efficiency
- Reduced waste
- Reduced operating costs
- Potential assistance for 10-16 LEED credits
