Calling all four-legged designers and their proud human partners! AIA Orlando is rolling out the red carpet (and the grass) for the "Barkitect of the Year" competition - where creativity, charisma, and canine charm take center stage.

 

Submit a photo of your real dog (no AI pups allowed!) along with a short, tongue-in-cheek “portfolio bio” highlighting their dog’s professional achievements. Think award-winning treat tester, master nap strategist, or lead squirrel surveillance officer.​ Come celebrate great design, great dogs, and a paws-itively good time!

The public will be invited to view the full lineup of contenders and cast votes for their favorite Barkitect. Voting will remain open for one month, with each vote helping determine which pup rises to the top. At the end of the voting window, the dog who earns the most votes will be crowned Central Florida’s Barkitect of the Year.​​​​

The big reveal happens at the Barkitect Awards Gathering on Saturday morning, April 4, 2026, at Maitland Community Park. Participants, voters, and dog lovers alike are encouraged to attend with their canine companions for a lively morning of mingling with fellow design professionals and their pets. Expect pet-themed vendors, fun activities, plenty of tail wags, and photo-worthy moments.​

Prizes will be awarded for the best-dressed pups at the event, along with a grand prize and ultimate bragging rights for the Barkitect of the Year winner.
