PARLOR SERIES: A DESIGN HISTORY OF WINTER PARK

Dr. Bruce Stephenson, who recently published the biography of gifted planner John Nolen, will share planning insights into Winter Park’s place in Florida’s history. Richard Reep will present a Design History of Winter Park, and show how the effects of many decisions over time created the city that we know today.

The Casa Parlor Series is a sequence of lectures and performances and owes its name to the house's historic reputation as "Winter Park's Parlor." Sponsors include Wakefield Beasley Associates, a design firm based in Orlando, and Cónaithe, an art and design consultancy firm. The American Institute of Architects and Rollins College support the educational programming provided by this event.

• Free admission, donations are welcomed.

• Reception begins at 6:30 p.m. Program will begin at 7 p.m. followed by questions and discussion. Limit is 75 attendees per program.

Upcoming Parlor Series events includes:

November 14 presents how good design does not exist in a vacuum, but is the product of good government. City of Winter Park Architect Brooks Weiss will provide the city’s vision for its future.  The economics of government, and how it influences design, will be shared by Orange County Budget Administrator David Hardison.
