Central Florida’s top architectural design professionals attended the AIA Orlando’s 32nd Annual Golf Tournament for scholarships. This year, we took a trip “Around The World” and helped raise some dough for our local students in Orlando’s schools of architecture.
TOURNAMENT HISTORY
The AIA Orlando Golf Tournament for Scholarships began in 1989 when a group of architects wanted to create opportunities for students to pursue higher education in the field of architecture right here in Central Florida. The tournament has evolved over the years, and now brings architects and design professionals together with vendors and allied professionals from A/E/C industries for a day of friendly competition to raise scholarship funds for students facing financial hardship. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit continuing education programs and scholarships for students studying architecture in America’s only 2+2+2 architectural degree program. Each scholarship award is intended to assist in a student’s educational expenses - including tuition, living expenses, books, and required fees. Today, in its 32nd year, the tournament has raised over $350,000.
About Valencia College: Valencia’s articulated architecture pre-major facilitates the initial pathway for students interested in Architecture & Design careers. The college provides the foundation & lower division courses in the 2+2+2 degree program.
About UCF School of Architecture: UCF offers a Bachelor of Design in Architecture. This middle step in the 2+2+2 program provides a convenient, affordable, & flexible ways for students to complete their higher education studies in Central Florida.
About UF CityLab-Orlando: CityLab-Orlando is the final step in the 2+2+2 program leading to a Master of Architecture degree. The program explores architectural ideas within the context of the city & uses the City of Orlando as a learning laboratory.
Each scholarship award is intended to assist in a student’s educational expenses - including tuition, living expenses, books, and required fees.
