Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

COVID 19 Advisory Notice

AIA Orlando continues to closely monitor the spread of 2019 Novel Coronavirus/COVID-19 (“COVID-19”) in the State of Florida.  We have been taking and continue to take reasonable health and safety measures to protect our employees, members and event participants.  AIA Orlando strongly encourages its employees, members and event participants to adhere to the social distancing and other related guidance and guidelines published by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (“OSHA”), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”), and the State of Florida and local authorities.

Despite the reasonable health and safety measures being taken, AIA Orlando cautions its employees, members and event participants that an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where persons are present.  COVID-19 is contagious and can lead to severe illness, injury, and death.  Members and event participants are hereby advised that by attending any AIA Orlando activity, meeting and/or event, you are voluntarily assuming all risks of exposure to, infection with, and spread of COVID-19.

It is important to AIA Orlando that its employees, members and event participants remain healthy, safe and active members of their communities.  Thank you for your attention to the above.

Your health & safety are our top priorities…

AIA Orlando is closely monitoring the current situation via the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, World Health Organization and local health officials in all of the six (6) central Florida counties we serve. We are also closely coordinating with other components, partners, OFA, AIA Florida and AIA National.

AIA Orlando is suspending in-person events until further notice, pending further advisories from the CDC, or other federal, state, or local governments. If you have registered, submitted or sponsored an upcoming event, including the Design Awards Gala that was scheduled for May 2nd, your payments, submissions and sponsorships will be applied to the rescheduled event date. Refunds will be processed upon request, but please be advised that your current reservation/position cannot be held if a refund is processed, and you may lose your opportunity to participate, as sales activity will continue.

AIA Orlando is here for you. We would like to know how we can help you and your team through this historic occurrence. Please feel free to call Gary Scarboro, CAE, Executive Director at mobile 407-366-4444 or email Gary@AIAorlando.com.

Effective Wednesday, March 25th, 2020 , AIA Orlando has transitioned rapidly to remote office operations. Our office is now closed during normal office hours. The component staff is available to assist with all component member services and to assist our tireless volunteers in achieving great results under this remote management environment. Our physical office has now transitioned to a virtual workplace. We are available to meet in person, by appointment only, with people who have not recently traveled out of the country and are not showing signs of exposure (coughing/fever/headaches).

In order to serve our membership optimally during this period, we have implemented a reliable cloud platform for video and audio conferencing, chat, and webinars across mobile, desktop, and room systems. We are currently geared up to host all previously scheduled meetings remotely, through web-based meetings or conference calls. If pick-ups or deliveries are required, these may take place by appointment only. Again, please contact Gary Scarboro.

Please watch your e-Charrette and check the website for updates. We look forward to seeing this phase through with you, and moving back to the normal, good times at AIA Orlando.
