The Orlando office of VOA Associates Incorporated, architecture, planning and interior design, is currently serving as Architect for the design-build contract to renovate the 13 Volunteer Army (VOLAR) Barracks and four Central Energy Plants (CEP) at the Louisiana Army Military Installation, Fort Polk, LA.
VOA, under contract with Prime Contract Holder and General Contractor, Walton Construction, LLC, Harahan, LA, is providing full architecture, interior design and sustainable design services for the $184 million project. Construction is currently underway, with an expected completion date expected for November, 2012.
According to Ted G. Fery, AIA, LEED AP, VOA Partner, Southern Region, all buildings included in the renovation incorporate “green” strategies using sustainable techniques and materials to qualify for LEED “Silver”. The renovation of the barracks and central energy plants will serve an additional 62 buildings at the Fort Polk military installation and will range in size from 28,060 to 47,820 square feet. When completed, the barracks will provide 976 single soldier apartments with private baths and kitchens. Total gross square footage for the project is 600,000 square feet.
