SchenkelShultz Architecture, Designs Recently-constructed Westside K-8 School in Kissimmee, Florida

ORLANDO, FL SchenkelShultz Architecture, Orlando, one of Florida’s leading green design firms, designed the School District of Osceola County’s recently-constructed $24.4 million, 171,838-square-foot Westside K-8 School at 2551 Westside Boulevard in Kissimmee, FL. The facility was designed as a middle school by utilizing the flexibility of the school district’s elementary school prototype as a base and adding a second building which includes the gymnasium, art and music suite, and career and technical education wing. To meet the needs of the surrounding community and school district, SchenkelShultz later transformed the middle school into a K-8 school by converting a middle school classroom section of the building into kindergarten and primary classrooms with attached restrooms and playground facilities and equipment. Turner Construction Company, Orlando, served as construction manager. Ranked as the #1 Educational Facilities Architect among Southeast Construction magazine’s prestigious 2009 Top Design Firms published October 2009, SchenkelShultz has designed more than 33 million square feet of K-12 projects in Florida.

Ranked 41st largest among Architectural Record magazine’s Top 250 Architectural Firms, SchenkelShultz is celebrating 51 years of design excellence as a full-service architectural firm specializing in education, justice, aviation and commercial facilities design. With eleven offices nationally (seven in Florida) and over 65 LEED® Accredited Professionals, SchenkelShultz is a recognized leader in green design that is committed to incorporating sustainable concepts into every project.
