| Amendment 4-2010 Ballot |
Amendment 4 would affect our state's economy and quality of life by requiring every local government comprehensive plan change to be approved by voters. It would result in an average of 200 - 300 plan changes to be approved every year, greatly increasing the cost of local government, place unreasonable and expensive burdens on business and property owners, and limit the ability of our communities to adapt to the challenges of the 21st century.
For more information about the amendment, CLICK HERE.
AIA Florida is opposed to the Hometown Democracy Constitutional Amendment that would require all rezoning and amendments to local comprehensive plans to be approved via referendum.
Everyone has a strength and everyone has something to offer to help stop Amendment 4. Whether it is writing letters, blogging, speaking to an audience, or volunteering at the grassroots level YOU can get started today.

| 2009 Design Party- 10 Free Registrations for AIA Members |
It has been and continues to be a difficult year for everyone in the central Florida design industry. We at Technology Research & Consulting, Inc. consider ourselves to be fortunate that we have been able to stay busy throughout 2009. We also understand that some of our collegues, especially those who are members of AIA Orlando, have not been so fortunate. This year, as a supporter of the annual AIA Design Party being held from 5:30 - 8:30 PM on Wednesday, October 28th at the Orange County History Center in dowtown Orlando, Technology Research & Consulting, Inc. has decided to sponsor ten out-of-work AIA Orlando Architects who wish to attend the event. The first ten out-of-work AIA Orlando Architect Members or Associate Members who call our office at (407-273-6000) will have their attendence to the event paid by our company. Although it is only a small gesture, if it allows one out-of-work Architect to make contact with a potential employer then we believe it is a worthwhile act. As we move into the holiday season ahead of us, we hope that others will also take the time to reach out to struggling friends and collegues who remain an important part of our community.
Thank you.

| Central Florida Energy Efficiency Alliance |
AIA Orlando has joined the Central Florida Energy Efficiency Alliance, a group of organizations taking a closer look at energy use in many of the Central Florida buildings and facilities. They are kicking off the "Kilowatt Crackdown" program to measure and save energy. There are a couple opportunities for AIA members related to this organization. First, if you are interested in becoming the AIA Representative to the CFEEA, we would love to have you join us. Second, if you are a firm that owns and operates its own office building, you may want to participate in the Kilowatt Crackdown by measuring energy use in your own building. This is a great opportunity for firms who want to showcase their LEED abilities. You can learn more by visiting the CFEEA website. |
