AIA Orlando Members serve at the State Level! Call to Service!

Coach Darrell Royal once said, “There are two kinds of folks, those on the field and everyone else. Only those on the field have an outcome on the game.”

Now is the time to continue to be active and involved “on the field” in our communities and our association. At the recent Annual Meeting during the AIA Florida Convention, Orlando was well represented by our candidates. Serving our State Association on the Executive Committee next year will be two of the four Vice Presidents, Nathan Butler, AIA and Dan Kirby, AIA as well as First Vice President/President Elect, Michael Lingerfelt. AIA. Serving on the National Board of Directors as the Florida/Caribbean Regional Associate Director will be Clarice Sollog, Assoc. AIA.

Congratulations to all of them!

Canstruction Orlando 2009 (Build a Community of Cans)

Canstruction News!

Now is the time to dust off a set of plans of a building type that is your forte, and build it out of CANS in support of Canstruction and the Second Harvest Food Bank!

Why now?

For the first time in the 15-year history of this event, the Marketing Director of Orlando Fashion Square Mall is building a marketing campaign around the Community event of Canstruction to be held at the "Community Mall" - Orlando Fashion Square!

Our theme this year - building a community of cans - is exactly what is needed to help build this campaign. If a building type you want to build is not listed on the site - call me. We will get what you need there.

We will be featured on digital billboards throughout Orlando in the beginning of October.

We will have articles and print information about teams and team participants in PR releases that will include quick time motion video clips of two buildings being constructed.

We will be on both radio and TV in support of the effort.

We will be able to have the People's Choice Award balloting at the Mall and on-line, and the Mall is offering a Shopping Spree Gift Certificate for one lucky voter of the winning structure.

We will be in a new part of the Mall - the West Court - which lends itself to a town circle - with major vinyl signage on supportive wall structures.

Every participating firm and team will be recognized in print to the best of the Mall PR Consulting firm's efforts.

We ARE encouraging teams from Churches, Schools, and other firms outside of our industry to get involved.

Many of us never expected to be where we are today...that includes those working and not working. Just think how close people you know are to making serious choices about food, gas, utilities, and medical care. And if you don't think it can happen to members of our industry - think again.

So, isn't it time to "pass it on"? We are fortunate enough to still have a place to work and help people we respect and care about. Let's make that one more effort and raise some food so that others may eat. This should not be hard...buildings are what we do!

Please register for Canstruction this week - we need your logos and information now in order to be included in the Mall's PR campaign.

We hope to see you, your firm, your church, or your school step up and help. WE CAN DO THIS, but we need your help!
