AIA Orlando COTE Committee Meeting (Wednesday, April 15th)

AIA Orlando is reorganizing the COTE committee (Committee on the Environment). COTE is a local committee of the AIA Knowledge Community, and it aims to improve the quality of the regional and urban environment by promoting excellence in design, planning, and public policy in the built environment. This will be achieved through membership and public education, in concert with allied professionals.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The information you need to confidently design innovative projects using operable glass walls. You will learn the differences between folding and single track sliding wall systems and how and where they are used. Learn how stringent product testing supports design freedom, and view imaginative new applications in an ever increasing market place. Challenge yourself to blur the lines between landscape and living space. LEED and ANSI 700-2008 updates are included for residential, schools, hospitality and sporting arenas, regarding smaller carbon foot print via flex-space, building envelope, energy efficiency, weather-tightness, acoustics and security.

The National Fire Sprinkler Association’s biennial Trade Show is scheduled for Friday, May 1, 2009 in the Omni Champions Gate Resort National Ballroom. Show hours are 12:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. This will be one of the largest fire sprinkler industry events ever held in Florida and admission is absolutely free. USGBC Central Florida Chapter offers Scholarship

Honorary David A. Gottfried Scholarship
Deadline: Friday, April 10th 5:00pm

The application deadline is fast approaching for the 2009 offering of the Honorary David A. Gottfried Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to a student who has done the most for market transformation and stewardship in their school, community, or career field. Eligible applicants must be a Florida resident currently enrolled in a college or university in the Central Florida Region.

Please encourage anyone who you feel is eligible to apply!
