| AIA Florida Legislative Day in Tallahassee |
Last week, AIA Orlando Members met Wednesday morning in the Florida Senate Chambers for a legislative briefing by Michael Lingerfelt, AIA Florida Vice President for Legislative Affairs on the Association's top issues, which are Sales tax on Services, Stimulus Package, SunRail, 481-Reciprocity and the Consultants Competitive Negotiation Act.

After the briefing, members distributed talking points and handouts outlining the Association's stance on the above mentioned issues. | AIA Orlando COTE Committee Meeting (Wednesday, April 15th) |
AIA Orlando is reorganizing the COTE committee (Committee on the Environment). COTE is a local committee of the AIA Knowledge Community, and it aims to improve the quality of the regional and urban environment by promoting excellence in design, planning, and public policy in the built environment. This will be achieved through membership and public education, in concert with allied professionals.

LEED and ANSI 700-2008 updates are included for residential, schools, hospitality and sporting arenas, regarding smaller carbon foot print via flex-space, building envelope, energy efficiency, weather-tightness, acoustics and security.
