Committees

Are you getting what you want from your professional association by taking advantage of the opportunity to shape and influence AIA Orlando?

Are you telling AIA Orlando what you would like to see in the newsletter, what speakers you would like to hear, what events you would like to attend or how you think the organization can promote the understanding of architecture in this community?

You can do all that while developing meaningful professional contacts. Here's how. Sign up for an AIA Orlando Committee. With a small commitment of your time and expertise, you can make a difference. Listed below, in alphabetical order, is a brief outline of some of the committees that need your help, and the person that you can contact. They'll be happy to answer any comments and questions that you might have.

Health Care

The AIA Orlando Healthcare Committee brings together professionals working in the healthcare design field for professional development and education. Our local committee will complement the mission of the AIA's Academy of Architecture for Health. The AIA Academy of Architecture of Health's mission is to improve the quality of healthcare through design by educating architects and other constituents, advancing the practice of healthcare architecture, and affiliating and advocating with others that share our vision.

Canstruction's 11th Annual Orlando Design/Build Competition puts a visual spotlight on hunger while showcasing the Central Florida design community's best and brightest. Think you have what it takes to design and build a structure made of nothing more than canned food, ingenuity, and luck? Enter today. Get creative, help stop hunger. one can.

COTE Committee

The Committee on the Environment (COTE) works to advance, disseminates, and advocates—to the profession, the building industry, the academy, and the public—design practices that integrate built and natural systems and enhance both the design quality and environmental performance of the built environment. The committee reflects the profession’s commitment to providing healthy and safe environments for people and is dedicated to preserving the earth’s capability of sustaining a shared high quality of life. The committee’s mission is to lead and coordinate the profession’s involvement in environmental and energy-related issues and to promote the role of the architect as a leader in preserving and protecting the planet and its living systems.

If you missed the August 27, 2009 COTE Meeting (Here Comes the Sun-FSEC) please view the lecture topic in this pdf: COTEMTGAug272009.
