Jury Comments:
The jury was struck by the Architect’s ability to take a relatively modest program and take risks with it and make something out of it that was far beyond what the program required. Nice use of materials, it inhabits the airport context well.
It is gracefully done, beautifully detailed.  It basically has one large move, the roof canopy, which elegant and done very well.

Play House, For a charity auction at the Mall at Millenia
Orlando, Florida

Submitted By:
HuntonBrady Architects, P.A.

Jury Comments:
The Jury felt it was an architectural idea that was clearly articulated, methodically manipulated, and beautifully resolved. It is probably more of a piece of furniture than architecture, however beautifully executed. They had an appreciation for its program, a playhouse to benefit cancer stricken children.

AWARD OF MERIT
Public Skateboard Park Pavillion
Sarasota, Florida

Submitted By:
Architects Design Group, Inc.
Winter Park, Florida

Jury Comments:
Of all the un-built projects, this one comes closest to looking at the potential for pushing the envelop and doing something more than the regular process of building actually requires. It took the building form and responded to the program of skateboarding.
It is playful and really began to express the aspiration of skateboarding. It is an elegant form in the context of a simple program to create, hopefully when built, a wonderful space.
