Legacy 2020 is an initiative of AIA Orlando started in January 2009. The purpose of this initiative is to engage the profession and the broader Central Florida community to transform cultural views on architecture in the Orlando region through programs, activities, and events during the time leading up to and one year following the 2019 AIA National Convention in Orlando.
The long-term focus of the initiative is to nurture a regional commitment to architecture, design, and the built environment that will thrive for many years to come.
The four key focus areas are:
2019 National Convention
Regional Center for Architecture and Design (Public Outreach)
Following the adoption of an ambitious Ten Year Strategic Plan in March 2010, AIA Orlando has entered the implementation phase of our Legacy2020 initiative. On May 16, 2009, AIA Members participating in the Architectural Kickoff Workshop for Legacy2020 signed a banner symbolizing a commitment to be “Owners” of the Legacy2020 initiative. All AIA Orlando members are invited to come together with this group to continue efforts to shape the future of architecture in Central Florida. The purpose for this workshop is to review components of the plan, review progress to date and discuss new opportunities to participate in the implementation of this plan.
